Lulu’s Place reached incredible milestones in February that mark a meaningful moment for our campus.
A Landmark Partnership with the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund
The Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund announced a historic $2.5 million investment in Lulu’s Place in partnership with TGR Foundation—the largest single gift in the Chargers Impact Fund’s history. The collaboration was unveiled during The Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club, where a special Careers in Sports Media event brought together community leaders, industry professionals, and high school students from Los Angeles and Orange Counties to explore high-growth career opportunities in sports.
John Spanos, President of Football Operations, announced the gift on behalf of the Chargers Impact Fund and the Spanos family. He was joined by legendary coach Jim Harbaugh, along with our partners from TGR Foundation—Founder Tiger Woods and CEO Hrag Hamalian. Lulu’s Place Founder and Chair, Doug Kimmelman, shared remarks expressing deep gratitude on behalf of his family.
The gift will support the continued construction of Lulu’s Place and the naming of the Alex & Faye Spanos Legacy Field, a state-of-the-art facility that will host comprehensive athletic programming at our campus, including the Snoop & Hush Flag Football League, Chargers Youth Tackle Teams, and Girls Flag Football. Beyond the field, a portion of the investment will fund educational programming developed in partnership with TGR Foundation, featuring a new sports-themed career readiness curriculum designed to expose students to diverse career pathways within the sports industry.

Topping Out: A Construction Milestone
We recently gathered to celebrate the topping out of our campus buildings, marked by the placement of the final beam atop the Welcome Center—a significant milestone in the construction of Lulu’s Place. This pivotal moment reflects the continued momentum of the project as we bring the Kimmelman family’s vision to life and create a transformative resource for youth from under-resourced communities.
Our outstanding team of project partners—including DPR Construction, Lincoln Property Company, and RIOS—joined us to commemorate the occasion. Since breaking ground in April 2025, remarkable progress has been made across the 34-acre campus, including 1,600 cubic yards of concrete poured for buildings, 580 tons of steel fabricated, and 130 trees planted to date.
With each milestone, the vision becomes more tangible. We look forward to the continued progress ahead and to welcoming students and families from across Los Angeles when we open our doors in mid-2027.
